History/Overview
The Mustang Mach-E is Ford’s first-ever high-performance electric vehicle. While it shares the Mustang name and a few styling cues, it is a four-door SUV conceived to compete with electric crossovers from a variety of premium brands.
Available Trims
Ford offers the Mustang Mach-E in Select, Premium, California Route 1, Premium First Edition and GT Performance trim levels. All are exclusively powered by electricity. Select and Premium start in a Standard Range configuration with RWD that can be optioned to AWD. Premium and California Route 1 models can also be had with an Extended Range powertrain with RWD. Premium Extended Range also offers AWD, a combination that comes standard in First Edition and GT trims. Note that actual range varies depending on trim and your choice of RWD or AWD.
Standard Features
Standard exterior features included in Select trim are a windshield wiper de-icer, manual tailgate, 18-inch grey painted aluminum wheels, LED headlights and taillights, tire pressure monitoring, rain-sensing wipers, passive keyless entry, heated/power-adjustable side mirrors, and smartphone-as-a-key technology.
Inside, Select trim comes with an auto-dimming rearview mirror, wireless smartphone charging, a 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster display, a 15.5-inch Sync 4 infotainment screen, and ActiveX black seat upholstery.
Select trim’s active safety and driver assists include the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite, which comprises automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring, cross traffic alert, lane keeping system, forward collision detection with automatic braking, reverse sensing system, and reverse brake assist.
The California Route 1 package builds on the Select trim, adding a panoramic sunroof and power-folding side mirrors, but reverting to 18-inch wheels in a trim-specific style, a manual tailgate.
Premium trim adds the Ford Co-Pilot360 Active prep package, heated front seats, driver’s seat memory, a heated steering wheel, a 10-speaker stereo, multi-colour ambient interior lighting, panoramic sunroof, a hands-free power tailgate, 19-inch wheels, front signature lighting, and power-folding side mirrors.
Premium First Edition cars gain special scuff plates and red brake calipers.
Finally, the GT Performance Edition brings a six-way manually adjustable front passenger seat, upholstery with a perforated reflective insert and copper metallic stitching, and 20-inch wheels.

Fuel Economy
As of this writing, Ford has not published energy consumption estimates for the Mach-E. Short Range models use a 68 kWh battery pack, while Extended Range boasts an 88 kWh battery. Ford’s driving range estimates range from 325 km (Select Short Range AWD) to 475 km (Extended Range RWD).
Competition
With the Mustang Mach-E, Ford lines itself up against some formidable high-end electric SUVs. Among those are the Tesla Model X and Model Y, the Audi E-Tron, and Jaguar’s I-Pace.
